FINEOS wins MAIB contract for claims platform overhaul

Tasmania’s Motor Accidents Insurance Board (MAIB), a government business enterprise offering compulsory third-party personal injury insurance to motorists across the state, has chosen FINEOS Corporation to replace its ageing Motor Accidents Claims System (MACS) with a modern, secure and client-focused solution.

The decision to move away from MAIB’s existing platform was driven by mounting concerns over technology obsolescence, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and limitations in data access and reporting.

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, MAIB selected the FINEOS Platform on the basis of its strong alignment with the board’s requirements.

The incoming CMS will be built around MAIB’s core strategic objectives, including rolling out a modern, adaptable system centred on client outcomes, boosting administrative efficiency to maximise time spent with clients, and embedding cybersecurity, data analytics and reporting tools directly into the platform.

Among the expected benefits are improved operational efficiencies for staff, greater flexibility to accommodate evolving working practices, enhanced digital and automation capabilities, stronger data security, and better integration across MAIB’s wider systems.

FINEOS was also recognised for its sustained product investment and innovation, experienced implementation teams, and deep domain expertise within the social insurance sector.

FINEOS Corporation CEO Michael Kelly said, “We are proud to partner with MAIB in their transformation journey. MAIB plays a vital role in supporting Tasmanians impacted by motor accidents. By modernising their claims platform, MAIB is positioning itself to enhance client outcomes, strengthen data security, and improve operational agility. We look forward to supporting MAIB in delivering a future-ready claims capability for the people of Tasmania.”

MAIB chief executive officer Paul Kingston said, “MAIB has a long history of standing beside Tasmanians affected by motor accidents and we are committed to continually strengthening the way we support our clients.”
