Zamp raises $30m to build sales tax OS for accountants

Zamp raises $30m to build an AI-powered sales tax OS for accounting firms. Discover how the platform is transforming compliance at scale.

Zamp, a sales tax compliance platform positioning itself as the operating system for sales tax, has raised a total of $30m to accelerate the development of its platform and expand its accounting firm partnerships.

The most recent funding round was led by Acrew Capital, with participation from Thomson Reuters Ventures and a number of Zamp’s accounting firm partners. They join earlier backers including Friends & Family Capital, 20Growth, Good Friends Venture Capital, and a range of other investors and operators.

The company intends to deploy the capital across three areas: scaling its accounting firm channel, developing new product capabilities powered by AI agents, and expanding internationally across the EU, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and more than 100 countries in total.

Certificate management is among the next features planned, with the broader goal of enabling a single tax professional to achieve 100 times their current output. Zamp’s partnerships team has already tripled in size over the past six months, with ambitions to move from working with local and regional practices to targeting the top 25 accounting firms globally.

The raise marks a significant evolution in Zamp’s business model. Originally launched as a managed service three years ago, the company has since built out what it describes as a deep tax infrastructure layer, covering thousands of jurisdictions worldwide and owning every workflow end-to-end — from filings and registrations to notices, data normalisation and taxability mappings.

Every data point and workflow is programmatically accessible, allowing partners to embed Zamp under their own brand, access it via dashboard, or query it through an API. A model context protocol (MCP) is currently in private beta, enabling accounting firms to securely access compliance data within their own AI tools.

AI agents are deployed across every stage of the process alongside tax and legal professionals, with Zamp covering any penalties in the event of an error. To date, the platform has filed over $400m in sales tax across 100,000 returns at a 99.97% filing accuracy rate, and has processed over 75,000 compliance notices.

More than 120 accounting firms are currently on the platform, including Withum, Frank Rimerman, Larson Gross, Anchin, and Crew Finance, with a partner retention rate above 98%. Direct customers include Crumbl Cookies, Oats Overnight, David Protein, Cult Gaia, Vapi AI, Handwrytten, NAV and LumiQ, among hundreds of others.
