Bibby Financial Services, the international financial services provider, has secured a €250m facility from HSBC UK as it looks to deepen its backing of small and medium-sized businesses throughout Europe and Asia.
The arrangement builds on an established relationship between the two firms, delivering back-to-back receivables financing. With the new facility in place, BFS will keep its overall pool of available funding above £1.1bn, resources it will deploy to help SMEs across the two regions pursue expansion.
The agreement also opens the door for BFS to draw on HSBC’s Global Trade Solutions unit, a network of over 150 working capital specialists spread across 50 countries and territories that assists companies trading internationally.
BFS has been a lender to smaller businesses for over four decades. Today it serves more than 8,500 companies at home and abroad, offering invoice finance, asset finance and FX products. The firm employs 1,000 people across Europe and Asia and sits within the Bibby Line Group, a family-owned enterprise with a 218-year history and operations in multiple countries.
Bibby Financial Services CFO Theo Chatha said, “Alongside global tensions and persistent inflation, access to flexible working capital remains a key challenge for businesses across Europe and in Asia. We are delighted to extend our partnership with HSBC, which provides us with significant capacity to ensure SMEs can access the funding they need to compete and grow.”
HSBC UK head of strategic transactions, Global Trade Solutions Bruce Richards said, “Bibby Financial Services play a crucial role in enabling SME growth across the world and we’re delighted to be continuing our relationship. The new pan-Eurasian facility provides back-to-back receivables financing across seven jurisdictions and will enable BFS to continue to grow its support for small and medium sized businesses. We look forward to seeing the company build on its impressive 40-year track record of backing SMEs and creating opportunities for businesses around the world.”
