Allianz Partners, a global heavyweight in B2B2C insurance and assistance services, has unveiled a strategic European alliance with Joybuy, JD.com’s newly launched online shopping platform, to embed device and appliance cover directly into the online purchasing process.
Under the arrangement, shoppers will be able to take out insurance on a wide range of consumer electronics, spanning items such as mobile phones, gadgets and household appliances.
Three separate products will be on offer: cover for accidental damage, protection against theft, and extended warranty services. Customers based in Germany, France, the Benelux region and the UK will be able to access the full end-to-end proposition.
The tie-up represents a major broadening of the relationship between Allianz Group and JD.com, which dates back to 2018 when the two firms established AllianzJD, a joint venture operating in China. The new agreement takes that collaboration onto the international stage.
