Shacom Bank taps Planto to end SME multi-bank blind spots

Shanghai Commercial Bank has joined forces with FinTech firm Planto to roll out an advanced Inter-bank Financial Insights solution in early 2026, giving its SME customers a unified picture of their finances across multiple institutions.

The offering is built on the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Interbank Account Data Sharing (IADS) framework, and the bank claims the broadest set of IADS cross-bank account analysis capabilities available to corporate customers in Hong Kong.

Through the Shacom Business mobile app, business clients can pull together account information from several banks with a single click, achieving greater cross-account transparency and stronger risk defences.

The platform consolidates data from multiple banks and converts it into real-time intelligence, replacing days of manual effort with automation. It highlights cash flow patterns, takes over routine analysis and gives SME owners the confidence to act on their numbers more quickly, while improving the overall banking experience.

The design of the solution draws on Planto’s interviews with SME owners, which identified poor visibility, manual reconciliation and account preparation as the most persistent operational headaches. Once customers authorise the bank to retrieve data from other institutions via IADS, they unlock 11 new features within the Shacom Business app.

These include a consolidated account overview spanning Shacom and 11 other banks, a real-time balance tracker, and cash flow analysis covering up to 18 months of inflows, outflows and net movements.

Further tools map payment cycles, flag large transactions for anomaly review, categorise transactions by type, detect recurring payments, analyse frequent payer and payee relationships, aggregate foreign currency activity, monitor commonly used transaction channels, and break down revenue by overseas market.

For the bank itself, the analytics enabled by IADS bolster risk management by surfacing irregularities and opportunities earlier, while giving relationship teams a sharper understanding of how their SME clients behave financially, laying the groundwork for proactive, data-led banking.

Shanghai Commercial Bank deputy chief executive, chief of retail & digital strategy Ryan Fung said, “Shanghai Commercial Bank is committed to leveraging innovation to meet customers’ evolving needs. We are pleased to partner with Planto to offer the advanced Inter-bank Financial Insights Solution in Hong Kong.

“By launching Hong Kong’s most comprehensive Interbank Analytics Platform, the bank has been actively expanding innovative fintech solutions that support SME business growth. Through intelligent data insight and secure platforms, we help SMEs enhance operational efficiency and deliver superior user experiences. Guided by the missions to be a trusted, future ready bank that drives innovations, Shacom strives to be a dependable partner to the SME customers at every stage of their growth journey.”

Planto co-founder and CEO Jessica Liu said, “Banks have long had the data, but not the tools to turn it into instant decisions for SMEs. We are pleased to partner with Shanghai Commercial Bank on this initiative; their forward-looking digital initiatives stem from a deep commitment to better serving their corporate customers. With IADS, we’re giving banks a new BFM layer that transforms days of financial work into seconds, helping SMEs understand their finances, act faster, and run with greater control and helping banks better serve their business customers in a much more scalable way.”
