Navacord, the insurance brokerage, has partnered with Steers Insurance Limited, marking its entry into Newfoundland and Labrador and giving the firm a presence across every Canadian province.
As part of the transaction, several Steers executives will become shareholders in Navacord, allowing the brokerage to retain its local leadership while participating in the group’s long-term growth strategy.
Navacord is one of Canada’s largest insurance brokerages, offering commercial and personal insurance, employee benefits, retirement and financial planning services. Steers Insurance is one of Atlantic Canada’s leading independent property and casualty brokerages, operating across Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia.
The partnership represents Navacord’s seventh transaction of 2026 and follows its merger with Acera Insurance announced earlier this year. The company said the additions put it on track for its strongest year of revenue growth as it continues pursuing its target of C$2bn in annual revenue.
Navacord president and CEO Shawn DeSantis said, “Today’s announcement is an important milestone for Navacord as we expand into a new province and continue building our presence in Eastern Canada.”
Navacord executive chairman T. Marshall Sadd added, “Steers Insurance has built an outstanding reputation through exceptional client service, deep technical expertise and strong relationships across the Atlantic region.”
Steers Insurance principals Jason Sharpe and Jeff Sharpe said the partnership would allow the brokerage to maintain its leadership and entrepreneurial culture while benefiting from Navacord’s scale, expertise and resources.
