Onyx raises $113m to keep humans in control of AI agents

Onyx, a security company behind the Secure AI Control Plane, has closed a $113m Series B round to help enterprises govern the growing number of AI agents operating inside their organisations.

The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with backing from Cyberstarts, TCV, Conviction, FirstMark, Vintage Investment Partners, QuantumLight and G Squared.

According to the company, the capital will be used to expand a platform designed to preserve human oversight as autonomous agents take on a rising share of enterprise work, rather than to compete within an established product category. Onyx argues that businesses across all sectors are turning into agent operators, with AI now active across browsers, endpoints, SaaS applications and cloud environments.

Onyx’s platform is built to manage agents wherever they operate. It identifies the AI agents present in a company’s environment and reviews every action they attempt before it is executed, aiming to do so without holding back adoption. The firm says it currently protects over 1.1 million agents for its enterprise clients and monitors more than 66 million AI sessions in real time.

The company believes the need is most pressing in sectors underpinning critical infrastructure, including energy, financial services and healthcare, where a faulty agent decision could trigger outages, market disruption or endanger lives.

Onyx said its Fortune 500 customers in these industries are shaping how agent governance is put into practice, and that serving them at greater depth motivated the new raise.
