Guidewire launches Qusar with AI agents for insurers

Guidewire, the cloud platform for property and casualty (P&C) insurers, used by more than 570 carriers across 43 countries, has launched a new Agentic Framework as part of its Qusar release, giving insurers the ability to build, deploy and manage AI agents on the Guidewire Cloud Platform.

The framework is designed to give carriers deep insurance-specific context across underwriting and claims functions, with the stated aim of helping protect indemnity margins and sharpen underwriting decisions. It grants AI agents secure, real-time access to policy, claims and billing data and workflows, so that multi-step processes that previously took days can instead be completed in minutes, according to the company.

As part of Qusar, Guidewire has also introduced a set of purpose-built agents for particular insurance tasks. A claim summarisation agent for ProNavigator gives adjusters condensed claim overviews so they can spend more time on complex cases rather than reviewing notes manually. A policy change agent, also for ProNavigator, acts as an embedded assistant supporting underwriters and customer service staff in processing policy changes, with the goal of speeding up turnaround times and improving quote-to-bind ratios. An agentic first notice of loss tool uses conversational AI voice technology to walk claimants through reporting a loss while capturing the necessary claim details.

The release additionally brings in Guidewire Developer and Builder Assistants, which are built around the company’s own codebase, programming languages, design patterns and configurations. These tools support development work in Gosu, Guidewire’s Java-compatible language, as well as in integrations, the Jutro digital platform, and serverless Functions. On the data side, a Data Curation Assistant translates plain language requests into SQL for Data Studio, while a Product Design Assistant automates elements of insurance product configuration within the Advanced Product Designer.

Celent executive partner Karlyn Carnahan said, “Insurers are increasingly recognising that AI value comes from deep integration with core business processes, not from isolated experimentation.

“Agentic Framework addresses this directly by letting insurers deploy AI within their existing systems and workflows while maintaining operational control and compliance.”

Guidewire chief product development officer Diego Devalle said, “By building the Agentic Framework directly into Guidewire Cloud Platform, we are giving developers and AI builders the tools to engineer and safely deploy insurance-aware AI agents into their daily operations.”
