Ambrook lands $30m to power independent businesses

Ambrook, the AI-native financial management platform built for independent businesses, has secured $30m in a Series B funding round to expand its accounting, payments and cash management tools for sectors including agriculture, trucking, construction and property management.

The round was led by Lachy Groom, with backing from Thomson Reuters Ventures, Thrive Capital, Field Ventures and Cameron Ventures, alongside individual investors Akshay Kothari, co-founder of Notion, Tomer London, co-founder of Gusto, and Guillermo Rauch, chief executive of Vercel.

The fresh capital takes Ambrook’s total funding raised to date to $59m and will be used to accelerate the company’s product development across the agriculture, trucking, construction and property management sectors it already serves.

Customer numbers have climbed sharply, growing from around 2,500 in July last year to more than 8,000 businesses spanning every US state. Having launched in the agriculture space, Ambrook’s platform now supports more than 1,000 trucking operators as well as numerous contractors and property managers, with much of this expansion stemming organically from its existing farming client base, many of whom also work in haulage, property or contracting.

Designed with the owner-operator in mind, Ambrook brings together accounting, payments and cash management within one platform tailored to businesses juggling multiple profit-and-loss statements and asset-heavy balance sheets. It lets owners track profitability as it happens, using terminology relevant to their trade, whether that means bushels harvested or miles driven, and whether they are checking figures from an office or a truck cab.

Bank, card and loan account data feeds into the platform automatically, with payouts handled through Ambrook Wallet, cutting down on the duplication that comes from juggling separate systems. Artificial intelligence handles much of the administrative load, itemising receipts, drafting bills from forwarded correspondence and recommending how to categorise transactions, invoices and payments, while owners retain final sign-off on every entry to keep records precise and audit-ready.

The platform also links compliance with profitability tracking, letting owners assess margins across product lines, sites or business units, from livestock against feed crops to a single vehicle versus an entire fleet, with categories mapped automatically to Schedule F and Schedule C filings, turning what can be a 50-hour tax season ordeal into a far more manageable task.

A fully featured mobile application lets owners log transactions, photograph receipts and issue invoices while out in the field, on the road or on site, with close to a third of Ambrook’s customer base relying on the mobile app as their sole point of access each month.

Roughly half of Ambrook’s customers are digitising their finances for the very first time, moving away from paper files or spreadsheets, it claimed. For many of these owner-operators, adopting Ambrook marks a foundational shift in how they run their business, establishing the system of record that will underpin major financial decisions going forward.

Looking ahead, the new funding will be channelled into further product development across the agriculture, trucking, general contracting, skilled trades and property management sectors Ambrook currently serves, as well as into expanding its artificial intelligence tools and its combined payments and cash management functions, automating additional routine tasks while leaving owner-operators in charge at every stage.

Ambrook CEO and co-founder Mackenzie Burnett said, “Building a more prosperous and resilient America starts by helping the country’s most vital independent businesses better manage their finances. When business owners have tools built for what they do, they can clearly see their unit economics and understand which next steps will increase their margin. That results in stronger decisions for their families, communities and land.”

Lachy Groom said, “There’s a common assumption in technology that every business has already adopted modern software, but that’s simply not true. Millions of essential businesses across local economies are still offline because current software doesn’t fit their needs. Ambrook has earned the trust to bring these businesses online, creating the financial foundation they’ll build on for years to come.”
