UATP taps dLocal to boost emerging market payments

dLocal, the leading cross-border payment platform connecting global merchants to emerging markets, has been confirmed as the newest payment processing partner for UATP One, the merchant services platform belonging to UATP, the global network that helps organisations simplify their payment processes and expand their payment capabilities.

The addition of dLocal gives UATP One merchants a further acquiring option across more than 60 countries spanning Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, regions where air travel demand is climbing fastest.

UATP One already offers airlines and travel merchants a single route into local payment infrastructure designed to cut cost, complexity and risk, and bringing dLocal on board extends that reach while strengthening UATP’s footprint in markets where local payment methods and local processing carry particular weight for conversion rates, booking volumes and revenue growth.

Those same regions are tipped for some of the strongest expansion in global aviation. Boeing’s 2025 outlook points to passenger traffic climbing 7% annually across South Asia and Southeast Asia through to 2044, alongside 6% growth in Africa and upwards of 4% in Latin America, all ahead of a 4.2% worldwide average.

IATA’s 2026 projections similarly place Asia-Pacific and Africa among the fastest-expanding markets out to 2050. dLocal’s network already links merchants to more than 1,000 local payment methods across these territories, giving airlines and travel merchants the ability to offer the payment options travellers already rely on at home.

Beyond the geographic reach, the partnership is designed to bring wider benefits to both sides. UATP One merchants gain payment-method support and secure processing capabilities in these high-growth markets, while dLocal gains access to UATP’s global network of airlines and corporate travel buyers along with a new route to processing volume.

For UATP, the tie-up adds local processing capacity in territories where clients are looking to expand and opens further avenues for merchants’ direct and indirect sales growth.

Teresa Rivera, vice president, merchant services, UATP, said, “Our clients want to grow where the growing volume of passengers and travelers are, and that means the emerging markets dLocal knows well. dLocal gives airlines and travel merchants using UATP One local payment reach and real depth in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. It also matches how we are building the platform.”

Horacio Raviolo, head of commercial partnerships at dLocal, said, “Airlines and travel merchants want to reach customers in Latin America, Africa and Asia without building a payment operation in every country.

“Our partnership with UATP facilitates more effective BSP flows across those markets, helping airlines navigate indirect sales channels through travel agencies and existing clearing systems with less complexity. That creates a simpler path to expand in a valuable, high-growth sector with an established, trusted partner.”
