Recurly, a subscription management and billing platform, has partnered with Justt, an AI-powered chargeback management provider, to help subscription businesses automate dispute management and reduce the operational burden of chargebacks.
The partnership connects Justt’s dispute management technology with Recurly’s subscription data, creating a workflow that covers the process from an initial dispute through to resolution. Once a case is closed, Recurly can automatically issue credits, update invoices and synchronise billing records, reducing the need for manual changes to subscriber accounts.
The move comes as chargebacks create a growing financial and operational challenge for businesses using recurring payments. Merchants can struggle to provide sufficient evidence when customers challenge transactions through their banks, while manually reviewing and responding to disputes can consume significant operational resources.
Research from Datos Insights, commissioned by Mastercard, estimates the cost of chargebacks to merchants will increase from $36.9bn in 2026 to $46.1bn by 2029.
The integration gives Justt access to additional subscription information held within Recurly, including customer history, payment behaviour, usage patterns and previous billing activity. This information can be used to build more detailed evidence for individual disputes and inform how cases are contested.
For subscription businesses, the combination is intended to address both sides of the chargeback process. Justt focuses on managing and challenging disputes, while Recurly can automatically reflect the outcome within a merchant’s billing records once a case has been resolved.
Recurly has more than 15 years of subscription data and says its platform supports more than 100 million subscribers globally. Its customers include Paramount+, Alaska Airlines, Sling, Experian, Nuuly and Cinemark. Justt was founded in 2020 and operates from New York, London and Tel Aviv. The company combines AI with payments expertise to generate tailored dispute evidence and was named to the Forbes Fintech 50 in 2026.
Recurly head of strategic partnerships Jonas Flodh said, “Chargebacks have always been a revenue problem, but the operational drag that follows every dispute resolution is just as damaging. By connecting Justt’s dispute intelligence with Recurly’s subscription data, merchants get a complete workflow from dispute to resolution. They win more chargeback disputes, and the outcomes write themselves back into the billing system automatically. That’s the kind of closed-loop automation that actually moves the needle for subscription operations.”
Justt co-founder and chief risk officer Roenen Ben-Ami said, “Merchants often lose payment disputes not because their case is weak, but because the right evidence is never presented appropriately. Recurly’s billing data is exactly the kind of context that turns a losing case into a winning one. Justt’s Dynamic Arguments technology combined with Recurly’s automatic reconciliation helps merchants protect their bottom-line from payment disputes effectively and with minimal effort.”
