Tieto and Siirto join forces to modernise e-invoicing

Tieto

Tieto and Siirto have announced a partnership aimed at making digital invoicing simpler and more accessible for businesses and consumers across the country.

Through the collaboration, businesses will be able to retrieve customers’ e-invoice addresses and deliver a first invoice straight into a customer’s online banking service. This capability stems from the combination of Siirto’s newly launched centralised registry and Tieto’s Multichannel B2C e-invoicing solution.

For consumers, the tie-up is designed to remove extra steps from the payment process, allowing invoices to be paid or received directly through their existing banking app rather than a separate application.

Tieto offers the Multichannel B2C e-invoicing solution referenced in the partnership, while Siirto operates as an instant payment method that already counts more than one million registered users in Finland.

The companies say the partnership is intended to cut reliance on paper-based invoicing and support the wider shift toward digital payments and invoicing in the Finnish market.

Siirto CEO Mikko Ketola said, “Consumers shouldn’t need a separate app to pay or receive an invoice – their bank app should already do it. No extra downloads, no friction. That’s the direction instant payments in Finland is heading, and Tieto is a key partner in getting us there.”

Tieto product area manager, multichannel, Teemu Petäjäniemi said, “Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating smoother digital payment experiences, reducing reliance on paper-based invoicing, and advancing the future of financial services in the Finnish market.”

Tieto head of multichannel and business information exchange Gard Heiaas said, “We are excited to collaborate with Siirto as they bring a new and innovative approach to the Finnish invoicing ecosystem. Together, we can help organizations deliver invoices through the channels consumers prefer and contribute to the continued digitalization of payments and invoicing in Finland.”
