Sumsub has introduced a new identity verification solution built specifically for online betting platforms operating in Brazil, removing the need for players to manually upload identification documents during onboarding.
Through local partnerships, the solution pulls a player’s identity data and document copy directly from Brazilian databases.
Players need only submit their CPF number and pass a liveness check via selfie, after which the system retrieves the relevant records, matches them against the user and runs further checks to confirm their identity, sparing them the task of locating, photographing and uploading paperwork themselves.
Brazilian regulation obliges betting operators to verify bettors and retain their data and documentation, controls that underpin market integrity but can also slow onboarding and push up abandonment rates.
Sumsub’s approach is designed to ease that trade-off. Despite the lighter touch for users, the company says the audit trail stays intact, with stored IDs and biometric evidence held securely on the dashboard for compliance purposes, and all data retrieval carried out under LGPD rules with explicit user consent.
The launch is aimed chiefly at major operators entering the Brazilian market, international firms expanding across Latin America more broadly, and platforms already active in the country that want to strip friction out of their sign-up process.
Identity retrieval is only the starting point. The new tool sits within Sumsub’s wider platform and can be paired with fraud prevention capabilities that examine the device in use, flag links between separate registration attempts and surface signs of identity manipulation.
Available tools span Device Intelligence, Fraud Networks and deepfake detection, alongside transaction monitoring, case management and Summy, the company’s AI assistant for compliance and fraud teams, giving operators oversight from onboarding through to ongoing behavioural and transaction analysis.
Data or documents that look legitimate on their own can still raise red flags once cross-checked against device signals, biometrics, behaviour or other linked accounts, a layer of scrutiny intended to catch fraud that a standalone check might miss. The offering also comes with SDKs and dashboards adapted for the Brazilian market plus workflows that can flex to each operator’s risk appetite, letting global firms serve local users while running verification, monitoring and investigations from one system.
Sumsub has been named a Leader by Gartner, Forrester and IDC and is rated by users on G2. The company works with more than 4,000 clients globally, including over 400 in the iGaming sector, pairing its international compliance and fraud prevention expertise with tools shaped around the specifics of the Brazilian market.
Sumsub iGaming Product Evangelist Kris Galloway said, “Entering a regulated market requires rigorous verification processes, but this does not mean that the player experience needs to be complex. Our solution allows operators to obtain the information and documents required to strictly comply with Brazilian regulations while providing users with a smoother onboarding experience.”
Galloway added, “Simply having access to the correct data is not enough. Operators need to confirm that the data belongs to the person completing the registration and analyze the risk indicators surrounding that identity. By bringing together onboarding, verification, monitoring and fraud prevention, we provide operators with a more comprehensive view of each user.”
