Evergreen.ai launches free AI financial adviser

Evergreen.ai, a Miami-headquartered AI-powered financial advice app founded by FinTech veteran Bill Harris, has launched with a focus on giving everyday Americans access to personalised financial strategies traditionally aimed at wealthier consumers.

The platform provides free, round-the-clock guidance across financial planning, homeownership, equity compensation and tax strategy. Consumers who register during the current beta period will be able to use Evergreen.ai at no charge until 1 January 2028.

Evergreen.ai’s tools cover both short-term cash flow and long-term retirement projections, alongside security price tracking, fundamentals and watchlists. The platform also supports equity compensation planning for options, RSUs, founder stock and QSBS, as well as net worth tracking through linked bank, brokerage and credit accounts.

For homeownership decisions, users can access mortgage and rent-versus-buy calculators, while retirement tools cover 401(k)s, IRAs, Roth IRAs and Roth conversions. The platform also supports college savings planning, including financial aid and tax-advantaged education accounts, alongside tax strategies such as tax-loss harvesting and charitable giving.

Rather than relying solely on a language model to generate financial figures, Evergreen.ai combines generative AI with a deterministic calculation engine that handles the underlying tax and financial maths. The company said this approach is designed to deliver consistent and verifiable results, with answers presented through text, tables, charts and interactive calculations tailored to each user.

Security is also built into the platform’s architecture. Account linking is handled through Plaid, meaning banking credentials are not shared directly with the AI system. Evergreen.ai said user data is encrypted, is not sold to third parties and is excluded from the training of public AI models.

Evergreen.ai operates as a service of Evergreen Wealth Advisors, a registered investment adviser and fiduciary. The company said its mission is to deliver financial advice to more people at a lower cost, using information such as a user’s income, expenses and investments to support decisions across their financial lives.

Harris brings three decades of experience in consumer fintech to the venture. He previously served as chief executive of PayPal and Intuit and founded eight financial technology companies, including Personal Capital, which grew to $23bn in client assets under management. He is joined by co-founder and chief technology officer Bryan Godwin, who has filed seven pending patents linked to the platform.

Evergreen.ai founder and CEO Bill Harris said, “Until today, the best financial advice has always been out of reach for everyday Americans. A 2024 survey found that 73% of American adults don’t use a financial advisor. At the same time, more consumers are turning to general-purpose AI chatbots for financial advice instead. It’s problematic because those models often lack the personalized data needed for situation-specific answers, can produce incorrect numbers, and aren’t built to protect the financial details people share with them. Evergreen.ai is different. It combines specialized models, knowledge bases and quantitative tools built for one purpose only: personalized financial advice.”

Evergreen.ai co-founder and CTO Bryan Godwin added, “Evergreen.ai was engineered specifically to address where general-purpose AI falls short in financial advice. Today, the harness matters as much as the model. Our secure architecture pairs probabilistic Large Language Models (LLMs) that excel at communication, with deterministic software that runs the actual calculations and grounds each answer in current financial and tax knowledge. Combined with each user’s complete financial picture, it’s how we deliver advice that’s personalised, consistent and verifiable.”
