Allianz Commercial, a prominent player in the insurance sector, has announced a significant enhancement to its leadership structure.
Vanessa Maxwell has been appointed as the Global Head of Cyber, in addition to her existing role as Global Head of Financial Lines. This appointment, effective immediately, positions her to oversee both lines as distinct entities, reporting directly to Shanil Williams, the Chief Underwriting Officer at Allianz Commercial.
Allianz Commercial operates within the broader Allianz Group, one of the world’s leading insurers and asset managers. The company is renowned for its comprehensive portfolio of commercial insurance products, including specialised lines like Cyber and Financial. As an integral part of the global insurance market, Allianz Commercial focuses on delivering innovative insurance solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
Vanessa Maxwell, now the Global Head of Cyber and Financial Lines at Allianz Commercial, will manage these sectors as separate lines of business. Her role involves steering the strategic direction and development of both lines, ensuring they align with the company’s broader objectives of market leadership and innovation in insurance services.
Vanessa Maxwell brings over two decades of experience in Financial Lines and Cyber insurance. Prior to joining Allianz Commercial, she held significant positions at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance as Country Manager and Head of Executive and Professional Lines in the UK. Her extensive background also includes senior roles at AIG and Lexington Insurance Company, making her a seasoned expert in the field.
Scott Sayce, Vanessa’s predecessor, transitioned to a new role outside of Allianz in June, after making substantial contributions to establishing Cyber as a key component of the company’s portfolio. His efforts helped position the Cyber line as a stand-alone business, significantly enhancing its stature and performance within the market.
