Cisco enhances AI security capabilities with Robust Intelligence acquisition

Cisco, a leader in IT, networking, and cybersecurity solutions, has announced its acquisition of Robust Intelligence, an AI security company.

According to CTech, founded by Israeli mathematician Professor Yaron Singer, Robust Intelligence specialises in the protection of AI models across their lifecycle.

The acquisition aims to enhance Cisco’s AI security capabilities. Although the purchase amount was not disclosed, this strategic move is part of Cisco’s broader initiative to invest $1bn in AI technologies, as demonstrated by their recent establishment of a dedicated AI fund.

Cisco is renowned for its comprehensive range of products and services used in networking, telecommunications, and cybersecurity. Its solutions are integral to many sectors, including business, government, and home communications. Robust Intelligence, on the other hand, focuses on securing AI applications from development to production. The company utilises advanced automation and risk mitigation techniques to ensure safe deployment adhering to industry and regulatory standards.

Before the acquisition, Robust Intelligence, despite its small team based in Israel, planned significant expansion of its operations. This acquisition by Cisco not only prevents those plans but likely expands them under Cisco’s larger operational umbrella.

Robust Intelligence, co-founded by Yaron Singer and Kojin Oshiba in 2021, has quickly made a mark in the AI security sector. Prior to the acquisition, the company raised $44m and was valued at over $200m. Its growth trajectory reflects significant market confidence and potential in AI security solutions.

Cisco Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Security Business Group Tom Gillis said, “The integration of Robust Intelligence’s technology will significantly advance our mission to safeguard our customers’ AI applications against emerging threats.”
