Lloyd’s, the world’s leading marketplace for insurance and reinsurance, has announced the appointment of Nathan Adams as its new chief people officer.

Adams is set to join Lloyd’s in early 2024, where he will also serve as a member of the executive committee, reporting directly to CEO John Neal.

Based in London, Lloyd’s operates a unique platform that connects insurers, reinsurers, and brokers to offer a range of innovative risk solutions.

The company is renowned globally for its role in insuring complex and large-scale risks, underpinned by over three centuries of market expertise.

Adams brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources and organisational transformation to his new role.

Before joining Lloyd’s, Adams held several senior positions at Aviva, including as chief people officer at Aviva Investors. His background also includes senior HR roles at Barclays and Arcadia Group, where he demonstrated strong leadership and an ability to drive impactful HR strategies.

He will succeed Sara Gomez, who is retiring from Lloyd’s at the end of 2023. Gomez has been with the company since July 2021, initially as interim chief HR officer, and subsequently stepping up as chief people officer in 2022.

During her tenure, she was a key member of Lloyd’s executive committee, leading efforts to foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Lloyd’s CEO John Neal commented on Adams’ appointment, expressing his enthusiasm for the new addition to the team. Neal said, “Nathan is a strong leader with outstanding experience driving the People agenda in large organisations. He will be a great addition to the team as we continue to focus on promoting an inclusive, high-performance culture across Lloyd’s.”

Neal also extended his gratitude to Gomez, saying, “I would like to thank Sara for her contribution to the Lloyd’s culture and people agenda over the past three and a half years. She has been a valued member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee, and I wish her the best as she moves into a new and exciting phase of her life, which she has been planning for some time.”
