Fiserv, a global provider of payments technology, and Mastercard have announced an extension of their long-standing partnership aimed at advancing agentic commerce for merchants worldwide.
The reason for the partnership expansion is to help merchants adapt to a rapidly evolving digital payments landscape where artificial intelligence-driven agents are increasingly capable of transacting on behalf of consumers.
As commerce becomes more autonomous, both companies aim to provide merchants with trusted, secure and transparent infrastructure that allows them to innovate without compromising control, security or customer relationships.
Under the expanded partnership, Fiserv will integrate with Mastercard’s Secure Card on File solution and act as a network token requestor on behalf of merchants and partners.
This enables the use of Mastercard’s tokenisation technology to deliver seamless and secure transactions. Fiserv will also adopt the Mastercard Agent Pay Acceptance Framework, allowing AI agents to transact with built-in safeguards such as strong authentication, fraud controls and governance mechanisms.
Beyond the core technical integration, the collaboration is designed to simplify merchant participation in agentic commerce. Merchants will gain access to tools and insights that help them maintain ownership of customer relationships while opening up potential new revenue streams enabled by programmable and intelligent payments.
The latest announcement builds on existing collaboration between the two companies, including joint efforts to support stablecoin adoption and the expansion of Mastercard’s Small Business Navigator programme, signalling a broader strategic alignment beyond agentic commerce alone.
Fiserv svp and global chief product officer, merchant solutions Sanjay Saraf said, “Fiserv and Mastercard are working together to establish the foundation for secure, intelligent, and interoperable agentic commerce experiences. Together, we are enabling merchants of all sizes to confidently participate in this new era of commerce, leveraging trusted standards and programmable payments to unlock growth.”
Mastercard co-president, U.S., Chiro Aikat said, “Agentic commerce is transforming payments by creating smarter, more intuitive experiences for both merchants and consumers. These technologies simplify transactions, reduce friction, and enable businesses to deliver faster, more personalised experiences. By working with Fiserv, we’re making it easier for merchants to embrace these innovations in ways that add trust, speed and confidence.”
