Applied Systems, the world’s biggest provider of insurance software, has introduced Epic Conductor, an AI platform embedded directly within its Applied Epic system and designed to carry out insurance workflows from start to finish.
The InsurTech firm revealed the platform at Applied Net 2026. It marks a turning point for Applied Epic, which moves beyond simply storing records to actively completing work. The platform handles tasks throughout the insurance lifecycle, covering areas such as policy administration, financial management, submissions and underwriting, while remaining within Epic’s current security permissions and audit controls.
Applied says the launch targets a long-standing inefficiency in the sector. According to the company, close to half of the labour at agencies, brokerages and carriers is still spent on manually entering, re-entering and checking data. This leads to hundreds of mistakes and billions of dollars in outsourced business process spending. Epic Conductor is intended to remove this burden, freeing staff to focus on advising customers and securing new business.
The platform’s automation covers three areas. Within operations, natural language search pulls information from records, documents and activities. Epic extracts policy and new business data from carrier documents, saving 55 minutes per submission, while policy checking and quote comparison can flag an incorrect limit or absent endorsement in time to fix it, saving between 32 and 60 minutes per check. Certificates are also drafted automatically from live data, subject to approval before being issued.
On the financial side, a single carrier document can create the policy, transaction and invoice, each assigned to the right branch and profit centre. Applied reports 99% extraction accuracy across more than 90 carriers without manual data mapping. Commission statements are collected from carrier portals on a set schedule, reducing reconciliation hours by 90%. Premium finance agreements are produced from carrier quotes and offered alongside card and ACH payment, with cash automatically matched to the correct record, shortening the bind-to-paid cycle by days.
The third area, connected trading, uses Applied’s existing links to move submissions, quotes and renewals between agencies and carriers. All marketed submissions appear in one Epic view showing status, checklists and quotes by carrier, cutting handling time by 60% and giving account managers more than two hours back each day. ACORD applications populate automatically from submission documents, and renewal quote requests are sent to each carrier in its required format, with responses returning inside Epic within three hours rather than three or more days.
Applied chief product officer Lance Williams said, “Many of the AI solutions available today are features solving a narrow use case, not connecting work across the whole policy lifecycle.
“Our ambition is to apply AI to do what nobody else can: connect the work that moves from operations to finance and trading teams and out to carriers, removing the friction that stalls it to drive real business outcomes faster. That’s what Epic Conductor does: it conducts the work itself, so agencies and brokerages get the time back to serve clients and write more business.”
