Stripe will not process anymore payments for Donal Trump’s campaign website, following the riots at the Capitol last week, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
The payments processor has disabled the account due to it violating policies against encouraging violence, it said.
Under the terms and conditions of the platform it states that users will not accept pay for high-risk activities, including those that engage, promotes or celebrates unlawful violence.
This move comes after a group of protestors stormed the Capitol in Washington D.C. in an attempt to disrupt the electoral college vote to formalise Joe Biden’s victory. Trump has made numerous tweets over the past few months claiming the election was fraudulent.
Other technology platforms have also banned Donald Trump’s accounts. Social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have banned him from posting, while websites like Reddit have removed areas associated with him.
