French health insurance startup Alan has raised $13m in a new round of funding.

The investment comes from CNP Assurances, Power Financial, Partech Ventures and angel investors.

With French law requiring companies to offer employees a health insurance plan and pay for at least 50% of the premium Alan’s platform allows businesses to quickly set up coverage for their staff.

Rather than operating as a marketplace to connect insurers to businesses the Paris-based company offers a full-stack solution and is registered as a health insurance company.

Alan charges €55 per month for each of a client’s employees who can add children and partners to their coverage for extra.

The company is also considering allowing freelancer workers to use the service.

The funding will enable Alan to hire more staff and introduce new features and services to the platform.
