Cybersecurity solution DATASHIELD has been acquired by Apollo Global Management-backed ADT.
Following the transaction, the companies will operate under ADT Cybersecurity, which will provide enterprise and mid-market business with managed detection and response systems. This solution will enable real-time protection against cyber threats.
ADT is a security and automation solution provider for homes and businesses across the US and Canada. The company has a range of security products, which include burglar alarms, fire detection and CCTV, among others.
Arizona-based DATASHIELD provides businesses with a managed detection and response technology to help protect against cyber risks. Some of the companies using the solution are RBS, Aviva, Santander, Lloyds Banking Group, Sony, Ministry of Justice, and KPMG among others.
ADT CEO Timothy Whall said, “Our goal is to provide ADT customers with the most comprehensive security solution to protect their business, and in today’s world, this not only means their physical premise, but also their network.”
As part of the acquisition, DATASHIELD CEO Michael Malone will join ADT Cybersecurity as senior vice president.
The US cybersecurity sector saw a huge increase to funding in the second quarter of 2017, after $859m was deployed to companies focused on these solutions. This is more than four-times as much capital invested than the first and third quarters total funding.
