Sisense collects $80m in round led by Insight Venture

Business intelligence company Sisense has collected an $80m investment in a new round of funding.

Insight Venture Partners acted as the lead investor to the round, which brings the company’s total fundraising efforts to $200m. Other major investors in the company include Battery Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, DFJ Venture Capital, Genesis Partners, and Opus Capital.

Sisense is a business intelligence software solution which helps companies generate insights from various data points. Financial teams use the technology to accelerate data collection, providing them with a wholistic view of the enterprise’s customer, product and process on a daily basis.

Its big data platform helps them to automatically compile business data to help improve understanding around revenues and products, new opportunities and profit margins.

The data and analytics platform is used in a range of industries including healthcare, retail, e-commerce, government, digital marketing, travel, software, enterprise and supply chain. Its services are then also used in a number of departments such as finance and human resources.

This capital injection will be used expand its international footprint, develop its cloud offering, make key hires and further its investment in its machine learning and AI labs.

Insight Venture Partners managing director Jeff Horing said, “We first learned about Sisense when we discovered that many of our portfolio companies are leveraging the technology to extract critical insights to more effectively run their businesses and enable their products and services.”

As part of the investment, former Duo Security COO Zack Urlocker will join Sisense’s board of directors.
