AMP Bank and HSBC Australia delay NPP rollout for at least another year

Australia New Payments Platform (NPP) went live in February 2018. However, two big banks have now delayed their rollout by at least another year.

AMP Bank and HSBC Australia have confirmed to Banking Day that their customers will not get accesses to real time payments services until 2020. Although, it is unclear when exactly that will happen in AMP Bank case.

HSBC Australia said it aimed to join NPP in the first half of the new year.

But these two organizations may not be the last. Banking Day stated that other banks that had been asked had failed to give a direct answer as to when they would join the scheme.
