Kin Insurance has extended its mobile home insurance services to Florida and opened an office in St. Petersburg.
The InsurTech helps consumers get access to better insurance products by leveraging publicly available datapoints. Its platform generates quotes for flood, hurricane, homeowners, umbrella, landlord and mobile home insurance.
Kin stated there are over 800,000 mobile homes in Florida, and it is looking to cover them on private property, mobile home parks, or in a subdivision. The policies offer replacement-cost coverage for the dwelling, belongings, other structures, additional living expenses, personal liability and medical payments.
The company was launched to help those in catastrophe-prone areas. Earlier in the year, the company released its Kin Interinsurance Network, which is focused on coastal homeowners.
As part of its expansion, the company has named Angel Conlin as its new chief legal officer and Jason Fraley as managing director of engineering.
Conlin said, “With 98 percent of Florida’s total population living in coastal counties susceptible to hurricane and flood damage, Florida is a unique insurance market that requires a keen awareness of the different coastal communities and the insurance challenges they face. I’m excited to join a team that’s reimagining what insurance can do for Floridians.”
Kin is hiring new and experienced engineers, developers, customer service representatives and insurance representatives.
Earlier in the year, the company nabbed $47m in a funding round to enhance its customer services.
