New research suggests that security companies were unprepared for events like the coronavirus.
Having polled 6,000 infosec professionals from around the world, cybersecurity company Bitdefender found that 50% of infosec professionals had no plans in place for a scenario like the coronavirus or a similar scenario.
The research also added to previous reports about how the cyber attacks has been on the rise during the pandemic. Moreover, 86% of infosec professionals admitted that attacks in the most common attack vectors were on the rise during this period.
The researchers said yberwarfare and IoT as an attack vector were reported to be up by 38%, and APTs and cyberespionage IP theft and social media threats/chatbots by 37% — all of which could be an indication of a bumper year for breaches.
The majority, or 81%, also believed that the coronavirus will transform the way their businesses operate in the long-term.
