Almost nine out of ten IT professionals say their main priority now is to boost their digital defences, according to new research from Hitachi ID.
Having polled 131 high-level IT executives, the researchers said that 89% said cybersecurity is now a main priority. Moreover, 70% said that their focus had shifted since the start of the year because of Covid-19. In fact, 72% of those who said that their top priority was cybersecurity said that their focus had shifted since January.
The second biggest concern for these professionals was to enable remote working, with 82% of people citing that as a goal and 80% wanted to make their technology stack more flexible for remote and on-premises workers.
Of those surveyed, 86% said they wanted to give their security standards a sharper edge and 75% wanted to keep their solutions up to date.
It’s hardly surprising that the pandemic has upped the pressure on IT professionals to keep their cybersecurity up to date.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, cyber criminals around the world have used the health crisis to launch more hack attacks and other schemes.
Covid-19 has also forced more companies to embrace flexible working. However, increased adoption of remote working has increase the risk of breaches. So it was encouraging to hear a few weeks ago that the majority of Australian professionals working from home has improved their cybersecurity awareness during lockdown.
