Ushur, a cloud-native automation platform for insurers, has closed its Series B round on $25m to support its sales and marketing efforts.
The investment was led by Third Point Ventures, with support also coming from previous Usher backer 8VC.
Funds from the round will be used to accelerate the company’s sales and marketing efforts.
Ushur has built a cloud-native automation platform that enables insurers to transform their customer communications with digital-first experiences.
Its virtual customer assistant tool automates proactive member, claimant, agent or broker communications across any channel. It will reach out to customers, understand their needs and automatically take the next steps.
The SmartMail solution enables insurers to process high-volumes of customer, agent and broker email automatically. It automatically classifies incoming emails using the natural-language technology to extract key account information.
Unum Group COO Mike Simonds said, “Ushur is a true partner in our digital transformation. Their ability to rapidly prototype and automate customer journeys has provided Unum with a competitive edge, delighting our customers while allowing our employees to focus on higher value work. As impressive as their technology is, the quality of the Ushur team may be what sets them apart. They really care about our success.”
The fresh equity injection brings the company’s total equity raised to $36m. Ushur closed its Series A on $12m in 2018.
