Insurance marketplace Policygenius has launched a mobile app that enables consumers to create wills and trusts as well as shopping for life and home insurance on their smartphones.
“Our customers are busy people committed to securing financial protection for their families,” said Jennifer Fitzgerald, CEO and co-founder of Policygenius. “They’re often thinking about making an estate plan at the same time they’re considering securing life insurance, but knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. We developed this app as a way to provide people with a simple, digital way to handle multiple important financial decisions in one place.”
A Policygenius survey found that 60.4% of people don’t have a will, even as nearly 40% of respondents said they feel it’s more important to get a will because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Almost one out for four people said that they hadn’t put a will together because they did not have the time.
To solve this, Policygenius designed its app to break down the will process into small, manageable steps that take five to 15 minutes each.
“We’ve seen strong results from our unique mix of digital convenience, human support and educational content,” Fitzgerald said. “Now, we’re thrilled to bring those same principles to the estate planning process, as we continue building out new ways to modernize financial protection for today’s consumer.”
Policygenius raised a $100m Series D round at the beginning of the year and partnered with Brighthouse Financial in June.
