Metro Bank has partnered with diversity and inclusion consultancy firm BAME Recruitment to help the company make more diverse and inclusive recruitment decisions.
BAME’s focus is to deliver diverse recruitment and consultancy processes for recruiting candidates and growing talent within companies.
According to Metro, it will be working with BAME to attract and engage more black, Asian, minority ethnic, LGBTQ+ colleagues as well as people living with disabilities to support its efforts to build a truly inclusive working environment.
The company claims that it is committed to reflecting the communities that it serves and to ensure the colleagues it recruits reflect such communities.
Metro said, “BAME Recruitment was the perfect partner as they, like us, believe that a person’s background shouldn’t have an impact on their ability to work. We employ on personality and train for skills as we know having a range of perspectives and experiences around the table leads to a more productive working environment.”
Metro Bank director of colleague experience and inclusion Simi Dubb added, “We are proud to partner with BAME Recruitment as they focus on social change and will support us on our priorities towards being the UK’s best community bank.
“Both organisations have a shared vision, putting people at the heart of everything we do, fostering an environment where everybody can be their authentic selves and value all the great things that make each of us who we are”.
A review by the Bank of England recently found that ethnic minority applicants for jobs at the organisation are less likely to be hired or promoted and more likely to receive smaller bonuses and given fewer opportunities for career progression than their white colleagues.
Following this, the bank vowed to improve diversity and inclusion at the 326-year-old institution due to the internal review.
