Global InsurTech investment falters in Q2 2022

• Global InsurTech investment in the second quarter of 2022 reached $1.5bn, a dramatic 45% reduction from Q1 2022 which brings total funding for the first half of 2022 to $4.3bn. A disappointing second quarter puts global InsurTech investment projections for 2022 at $8.6bn, 35% lower than 2021 levels. Deal activity in Q2 2022 reached 92 transactions, a huge 40% drop from the first quarter of 2022 and indicates that 2022 InsurTech deal activity will not surpass 2021 levels with total deals now projected to reach 488 in 2022.
• Newfront Insurance, a modern insurance brokerage, was the largest InsurTech deal in H1 2022 raising $200m in their latest Series D funding round led by B Capital Group and Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The fresh funding brings Newfront’s valuation to $2.2bn and will be used to add more people to its technology teams and offer clients more data-driven insights.
