Ex-Austrian Chancellor Kurz sets up CyberTech company

Kurz

Sebastian Kurz, the former Chancellor of Austria, is launching a cybersecurity business with the ex-head of the Israeli NSO Group.

According to Security Week, the company – Dream Security – will see Kurz take the role as president.

Kurz said, “The need to protect basic infrastructure such as energy, water and health services against cyberattacks never stops growing. The purpose of Dream Security, he claims, is to offer solutions for protection against such attacks.

“During my time as chancellor, I saw numerous attacks on governments as well as production centres and power plants, most of which were not published in the media,” Kurz highlighted. The new company plans to focus on the European market for now.

Kurz stood down as chancellor last year after a major corruption scandal surrounded Austrian politics.

He joined German-American billionaire Peter Thiel’s investment outfit Thiel Capital in California, running global strategy.

IronVest, a biometric, account-access security firm, recently secured $23m in seed funding as the company comes out of a period of stealth.

IronVest offers a security-first approach that uses a decentralised infrastructure to protect personal data. The company uses patent-pending, decentralised biometric fraud prevention technology to ensure only the correct person can access sensitive accounts and data during sign-in and through a session.
