Texas Mutual and Guidewire: Transforming the insurance industry with cloud technology

Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the premier provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Texas, and Guidewire, a renowned software provider, have proudly announced their successful deployment of Guidewire InsuranceSuite on Guidewire Cloud.

This significant step has been taken with the aim of streamlining IT operations, adapting swiftly to market fluctuations, and delivering more rapid value to stakeholders. The collaboration builds upon the existing relationship between the two companies, with Texas Mutual being a Guidewire customer since 2014.

The strategic collaboration is rooted in Texas Mutual’s forward-thinking cloud-first strategy. Guidewire Cloud is expected to assist Texas Mutual in integrating top-tier InsurTech solutions from Guidewire Marketplace and the PartnerConnect ecosystem, thereby enhancing its workflow efficiency. As such, the partnership has been created to drive innovation, simplify operations, and facilitate faster response to market trends and stakeholder needs.

Texas Mutual Insurance Company, based in Austin, Texas, leads the state in the provision of workers’ compensation insurance. Currently occupying more than 40% of the Texan market, Texas Mutual provides crucial coverage to over 75,000 Texas businesses and their 1.5 million+ employees. Since its establishment in 1991, the company has dedicated itself to providing stable, competitively priced workers’ comp insurance, helping employers mitigate the human and financial impacts of workplace accidents.

On the other side of the partnership, Guidewire Software is a trusted platform for property and casualty (P&C) insurers to engage, innovate, and scale their operations. It caters to more than 500 insurers in 38 countries, ranging from start-ups to the world’s largest and most intricate insurance firms. With a focus on customer success, Guidewire boasts an impressive track record of over 1,000 successful projects, backed by the largest R&D team and partner ecosystem in the sector.

In addition to the deployment of Guidewire InsuranceSuite, Texas Mutual is also leveraging SmartCOMM™ from Smart Communications for customer communications management. Smart Communications, a member of the Guidewire PartnerConnect Solution, is an offering that Guidewire resells, further enriching the partnership’s dynamics.

“Shifting our technology infrastructure to Guidewire Cloud is consistent with our future-forward, cloud-first strategy,” Texas Mutual senior vice president and chief information officer Jeannette Sprague said, emphasising the benefits of the partnership. Adrian Vanzulli, vice president of Software Engineering at Texas Mutual, also highlighted how the move to Guidewire Cloud is supporting the company’s transformation into a real-time data organisation, particularly in relation to reporting capabilities.

Concluding the announcement, Guidewire senior vice president, Delivery Services, Michael Mahoney, congratulated Texas Mutual on their successful Guidewire Cloud deployment and expressed enthusiasm about continuing to support the company’s mission.
