ShipStation, a leading player in cloud-based ecommerce shipping solutions, has unveiled its shipment protection offering, ParcelGuard, for US merchants.
ShipStation is a reliable name in the ecommerce world, renowned for its online solution that tackles the day-to-day challenges of order imports and shipment processing. ParcelGuard, on the other hand, is an innovative insurance offering designed to protect merchants from unexpected shipping costs.
The driving force behind this partnership is the increasing challenges faced by ecommerce merchants in the United States when their shipments get lost or damaged in transit. Typically, the merchants bear the brunt of the ensuing costs. In most cases, they rely on carriers’ insurance policies for coverage. Unfortunately, these insurance offers often provide limited protection and come at high prices. Additionally, the complexities involved in navigating claims processes often deter many merchants from adding shipping insurance to their business models.
ShipStation, founded in 2011, has established itself as the trusted leader in shipping software. It offers an intuitive online solution that empowers online sellers to ship orders efficiently, regardless of where they sell or how they ship. The platform’s multi-channel and multi-carrier features are backed by more than 300 integrations, including partnerships with leading shopping carts, marketplaces, carriers, and fulfilment services like USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, Shopify, and BigCommerce.
ParcelGuard directly addresses the issues faced by merchants. It offers merchants protection against the unplanned costs of damaged or lost shipments, and boasts an array of features. These include coverage for damage to branded packages and protection against theft for unbranded shipments, coverage for a variety of major carriers under a single set of terms, and rapid claims processing through an online form in the ShipStation app. Moreover, it offers savings of up to 67% off carrier insurance rates.
Auctane, the parent company of ShipStation, and its CEO Albert Ko, voiced their commitment to making merchants’ shipping processes efficient and scalable. “With ParcelGuard, we’re upgrading the insurance experience many merchants have become accustomed to by granting them access to streamlined payment and claims processes, as well as competitive carrier coverage rates. With ParcelGuard, merchants are better equipped to tackle unplanned costs caused by package loss or damage and improve delivery experiences,” said Ko.
