Basware, a leading provider of AP automation and invoice processing solutions, has welcomed Markus Hornburg as its new Senior Vice President, Global Compliance.

The firm specialises in assisting businesses in automating their accounts payable (AP) function, streamlining invoice processing, and ensuring compliance with evolving e-invoicing regulations worldwide.

Hornburg brings over 25 years of experience in product, trade, and tax compliance, having previously served in senior roles at Coupa Software and Tungsten Network.

His appointment underscores Basware’s commitment to addressing the complexities of e-invoicing regulations across various jurisdictions, helping customers navigate diverse invoice formats, tax rules, and archiving requirements seamlessly.

In his statement, Hornburg expressed enthusiasm for joining Basware and highlighted the company’s long-standing reputation for delivering tangible value to its clients. He stated, “I’m excited to join Basware to continue furthering compliance in financial processes. Over the years many so-called ‘disruptors’ have tried to enter the market, but Basware has a very long track record of delivering meaningful value to customers.

“With so many complex and evolving e-invoicing regulations expected over the coming years, Basware is strengthening its position as a trusted and reliable partner for all businesses, supporting finance teams and the office of the CFO. With Basware, digitisation processes will be projects customers want to do rather than something they have to do.”

Basware’s extensive experience spans more than 100 countries, providing tailored solutions to meet the unique compliance needs of each market.

The company’s Global E-invoicing Compliance Map and interoperability with government platforms and networks like Peppol demonstrate its commitment to simplifying compliance processes for its clients.

Hornburg, based in Germany, will report directly to Basware’s CEO, Jason Kurtz, who reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting customers through e-invoicing mandates.

Jason Kurtz, CEO at Basware, commented, “Basware is committed to support its customers through e-invoicing mandates. The appointment of Markus reaffirms our commitment to be the choice of the customer for global compliance. Compliance is a priority for our customers but is ever-changing and can be complex to adopt and implement. Markus will help ensure complete coverage of financial processes for our customers that are navigating differing mandates across the world.”
