M-Files, a leader in knowledge work automation, has announced the appointment of industry veteran Jay Bhatt as its new CEO.
This leadership change coincides with the closing of a majority recapitalisation led by Haveli Investments and Bregal Milestone.
Bhatt, a seasoned executive with a strong track record in scaling software businesses, will lead M-Files into its next growth phase.
M-Files specialises in knowledge work automation, offering solutions that help organisations manage, access, and leverage information efficiently.
The company’s platform enhances productivity and supports informed decision-making by streamlining knowledge workflows and enabling smarter operations.
Bhatt brings extensive leadership experience, having served as CEO for both private and public software companies, including Alfresco Software, Blackboard, and Progress Software.
Prior to these roles, he led the Architecture, Engineering and Construction business at Autodesk. Bhatt’s strategic expertise and focus on operational excellence are expected to accelerate M-Files’ growth, foster product innovation, and enhance customer experiences.
Former CEO Antti Nivala will now serve as chief innovation officer and continue as chairman of the board.
Nivala’s new role will focus on shaping the vision and innovation of M-Files’ platform.
Reflecting on the transition, Nivala said, “Two decades ago, when we founded M-Files, the goal was to help knowledge workers to work smarter. I am proud of the work we have done to enable our customers to make real progress toward doing so.”
M-Files’ leadership change comes as part of a majority recapitalisation led by Haveli Investments and Bregal Milestone.
CrossParadigm Capital, an independent investment firm headed by Bhatt, also played a significant role in the transaction, which closed on November 29th.
Sumit Pande, senior managing director at Haveli Investments, praised Bhatt’s operational expertise, stating, “Jay has consistently leveraged his operational expertise in leadership positions to help companies scale, and his appointment as M-Files’ next CEO is the natural next step in the evolution of the company.”
Ian Kwok, managing director of Bregal Milestone, added, “His exceptional track record makes him the ideal choice to guide M-Files into an exciting new chapter.”
