Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity leader, and Chronosphere, a next-generation observability platform built for large-scale data environments, have entered into a definitive agreement for an acquisition.
Palo Alto Networks is known for its broad security portfolio spanning cloud, network, and AI-powered threat prevention, while Chronosphere offers a platform architected specifically to support high-volume cloud and AI workloads.
The deal is driven by growing demand for real-time resilience across AI and cloud-native applications, where constant uptime has become essential. The companies did not disclose a purchase price. Palo Alto Networks said the acquisition will deepen its ability to support organisations that require unified observability and security foundations to manage increasingly complex AI workloads.
Palo Alto Networks helps organisations secure their digital ecosystems across cloud services, networks, devices, and data, leveraging automation, analytics, and AI-driven defence. Chronosphere specialises in observability for cloud-native environments, providing a cost-optimised ingestion architecture and the ability to process large volumes of cloud and application telemetry efficiently. Its platform already supports several leading AI-native companies, including two major LLM providers.
A key component of the integration is Palo Alto Networks’ AgentiX technology, which the company plans to combine with Chronosphere’s data platform. This will transition observability from traditional dashboards toward autonomous remediation. By applying AI agents to petabyte-scale observability data, the combined platform aims to detect issues, analyse root causes, and execute agentic remediation without manual intervention.
Additional benefits include unified visibility across security and observability datasets, improved cost efficiency due to Chronosphere’s optimised architecture, and enhanced support for organisations running complex digital environments at scale.
Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora said, “The foundational requirement for every modern AI data center is constant uptime and resilience, which demands real-time, always-on observability delivered at the right cost. Chronosphere was built to scale for the data demands of the AI era from day one, which is why it is chosen by leading AI-native and born-in-the-cloud organizations. And once we leverage AgentiX with Chronosphere, we will take observability from simple dashboards to real-time, agentic remediation. We are excited to not just enter this space, but to disrupt it.”
Chronosphere co-founder and CEO Martin Mao said, “We founded Chronosphere to provide scalable resiliency for the world’s largest digital organizations. Palo Alto Networks is the perfect strategic partner for our customers, partners, and employees. It allows us to combine our disruptive observability platform with the world’s best security company, accelerating our momentum in solving the most complex data and resiliency challenges. Together, we look forward to continuing to partner with industry-leading cloud and AI-native customers across the world on their mission-critical observability and security needs.”
