Paul Stoddart joins Fourthline as CEO

Fourthline

Fourthline has appointed Paul Stoddart as its new CEO, marking a leadership transition as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion.

The firm specialises in digital identity verification and regulatory compliance solutions designed to help financial institutions and FinTech companies combat fraud and meet strict AML and KYC requirements.

Its platform uses artificial intelligence and advanced document analysis to verify identities remotely, enabling businesses to onboard customers securely while maintaining compliance with evolving regulations. Fourthline works with major financial institutions across Europe, providing technology designed to support secure digital onboarding and ongoing identity checks.

Stoddart will take over the CEO role from Krik Gunning, who co-founded Fourthline and has led the company since its launch. Gunning will remain involved as an advisor to help ensure continuity during the leadership transition.

The appointment comes at a time when the company is looking to build on its position in the European digital identity market and pursue further growth opportunities.

In his new role, Stoddart will oversee the company’s strategy to expand into new markets and industry sectors. He will also explore strategic acquisitions while supporting organic growth initiatives as demand for digital identity verification and trust services continues to grow. His experience includes scaling businesses, driving profitable growth and executing mergers and acquisitions, as well as building strong networks across the financial services industry.

The company says the appointment comes at a significant moment for Fourthline as regulatory changes reshape the compliance landscape in Europe. In particular, the introduction of the new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) is expected to increase demand for advanced digital identity solutions, while businesses across additional industries are increasingly seeking trusted digital identity and verification tools.

During Gunning’s tenure as CEO, Fourthline grew from an early-stage startup into a major provider of digital identity verification services in Europe. The company now works with a number of prominent financial institutions and FinTech clients, including Revolut, N26, Trade Republic, Rabobank and Triodos Bank, helping them strengthen fraud prevention and regulatory compliance capabilities.

Fourthline supervisory board member Radboud Vlaar said, “We’re delighted to welcome Paul as we enter this next chapter. His proven track record in growth-scaling and deep industry connections position Fourthline perfectly to capitalise on the evolving regulatory landscape and expanding demand for identity verification across Europe and beyond.”

Radboud Vlaar added, “Krik has built something extraordinary, not just a market-leading company, but the foundation for sustained growth and innovation. We’re immensely grateful for his vision and leadership in bringing Fourthline to this stage.”

Fourthline CEO Paul Stoddart said, “Fourthline has an incredible opportunity ahead. I’m excited to build on the strong foundation Krik and the team have created, helping our customers navigate regulatory change whilst expanding our product capability and reach across new geographies and industry verticals.”
