Lloyd’s, the global insurance marketplace, has selected 12 companies for Cohort 16 of the Lloyd’s Lab Accelerator following its latest Pitch Day, marking the start of a ten-week programme focused on innovation across underwriting, risk and operations.
The event brought together InsurTech firms, market participants and international partners, with shortlisted companies presenting solutions before progressing into the accelerator. Selected firms will now work with managing agents, brokers and Lloyd’s to refine and scale their propositions.
Cohort 16 is structured around three themes: operational efficiency within the Lloyd’s market, development of new insurance products, and an Ireland-focused theme centred on resilience and capital. The latter is delivered in partnership with the Irish Department of Finance and targets areas including flood risk, cyber resilience, AI and export finance.
The selected companies reflect a broad range of innovation across data, automation, cybersecurity, risk modelling and climate-related risks. The 12 firms are:
Defenza – Cybersecurity platform protecting high-net-worth individuals’ digital lives
Elysian – AI-native TPA platform for complex commercial claims management
Exona Lab – Risk engine quantifying advanced and systemic AI risks
Elysia (Fortescue) – AI-driven battery intelligence for performance and safety insights
ITUS Protect – Cyber risk intelligence platform for SME resilience and underwriting
Nolana – AI-native operating system for automated insurance operations
Phyll – Infrastructure data platform enabling real-time asset condition monitoring
Plain Site – Flood-focused insurance product integrating nature-based mitigation
Plastic-i – Environmental intelligence platform for water-related risk underwriting
PolicyCheck – AI platform for delegated authority and wording oversight
Resilico – Flood risk data platform supporting compliance and mitigation
Vera – AI placement assistant for cyber brokers
During the programme, participants will test solutions within the Lloyd’s ecosystem, focusing on real-world applications and routes to market.
Rosie Denée, Director of Innovation and Commercial Education, Lloyd’s, said, “Pitch Day demonstrates the critical role the Lloyd’s Lab plays in connecting cutting-edge innovation with the needs of the Lloyd’s market. The quality and ambition we saw from this cohort underline the market’s commitment to tackling real-world challenges through new ideas, new technology and new ways of working.”
Robert Troy, Minister of State at Ireland’s Department of Finance, said, “This partnership between the Irish Government and Lloyd’s Lab supports innovation in the insurance sector to tackle national priorities like flood risk and cyber resilience. Pitch Day is an exciting element of the Lloyd’s Lab, and it is particularly pleasing to see an Irish-specific theme. Cohort 16 reflects the depth of talent and ambition in this space, and I am pleased to see these companies progress into the Accelerator and develop their solutions even further.”
Lloyd’s said the programme highlights its continued focus on innovation, supporting the development of new technologies and solutions to address evolving risks and operational challenges across the insurance market.
