Vertafore launches AI agent to tackle MGA submission delays

Vertafore, a Denver-based insurance technology provider, has launched an AI-powered submission processing agent designed to help managing general agents (MGAs) reduce manual intake processes and accelerate underwriting decisions.

Vertafore provides technology solutions for insurance agencies, MGAs and carriers, including platforms supporting distribution, compliance and workflow management.

The Velocity AI Submission Processing Agent is built on Vertafore’s Velocity AI Platform and integrates into MGA workflows to analyse unstructured submissions, including emails, PDFs, spreadsheets and supporting documents. The tool extracts key information and converts it into structured data for underwriting teams to review.

Submission intake remains a significant operational challenge for MGAs, with teams often required to manually review documents, enter data and request missing information before risk assessment can begin. Vertafore said the new agent aims to reduce these delays by automating early-stage submission processes.

The AI agent can also assess whether submissions are complete, identify missing information and generate follow-up requests, helping reduce administrative work between MGAs, brokers and agents. Vertafore said early users have reported accuracy levels of 87%.

The launch comes as insurers and intermediaries increasingly explore AI tools to improve efficiency across underwriting workflows. For MGAs, reducing friction during submission intake could allow underwriters to spend more time evaluating risk rather than managing administrative processes.

XPT Specialty executive vice president of workers’ compensation Dan Rieden said, “Historically, submissions have required standardisation through rigid templates, which does not reflect the way business is actually received. The new Vertafore AI capabilities enable us to process submissions in any format, without additional configuration or dependencies.”

Vertafore general manager of MGA and Wholesale Emily McGinn commented, “Every minute underwriters spend gathering and organising information is a minute they’re not evaluating risk and moving submissions forward. The Submission Processing Agent helps teams move to decisions faster while handling more business with more consistency and accuracy.”

McGinn added, “We’re putting AI to work where it matters most for MGAs: removing friction from the underwriting process so teams can focus on the expertise and judgment that create real value.”
