Blue Zebra bolsters motor offering with QBE deal

Blue Zebra, the Australian InsurTech underwriting agency, has unveiled a series of enhancements to its motor proposition, headlined by a renewed multi-year agreement with QBE and a strengthened specialist underwriting and claims team.

The extended arrangement with QBE spans both the personal and commercial motor lines of the business. QBE first joined Blue Zebra as a capacity provider a little over a year ago, and the relationship has since deepened, culminating in the freshly signed multi-year deal. The company said the changes are designed to give broker partners and their clients greater consistency and predictability.

Alongside the capacity renewal, Blue Zebra has bolstered its servicing capability with several senior appointments. Ryan Grigg joins as head of claims, while Sarahjane Goldych (SJ) takes on the role of dedicated motor claims manager. The firm has also added Brenden Anforth as senior technical underwriter for its motor portfolio.

Grigg has spent more than 18 years in general insurance, with a background covering property claims, underwriting and broker operations, including leading teams through major Australian natural catastrophes. In his new position, he will manage claims operations across Blue Zebra’s wider group of agencies, which includes SGUA, Allstate and Point.

Goldych brings 15 years of experience across motor claims, quality assurance, governance and technical leadership. She will oversee the delivery of the end-to-end motor claims operation through the company’s TPA partner, collaborating with brokers, assessors, strategic partners and suppliers to keep service delivery aligned across the value chain.

Anforth, meanwhile, has over 15 years of underwriting expertise spanning heavy motor fleet, plant and machinery, and niche personal motor risks. He will work on complex risks and help develop the agency’s technical underwriting capability as the motor book grows.
