Mercer Advisors, the Denver-headquartered wealth management and financial planning firm, has launched the second generation of Aspen, its proprietary AI-enabled platform designed to help advisors deliver its full family office offering through a single connected technology environment.
Aspen 2.0 has now been deployed across the firm’s more than 1,100 interdisciplinary wealth professionals. The platform was built to address one of wealth management’s longstanding operational challenges: fragmented client data and disconnected systems that make it difficult for advisory teams to collaborate across planning, investment management, tax, estate planning and other specialist services.
Rather than acting solely as a data repository, Aspen maps relationships between clients, advisors and the services being delivered through a unified knowledge graph. The platform serves as a central system of record while integrating directly with specialist applications used across each advisory discipline. Its architecture also allows Mercer Advisors to deploy supervised AI tools directly within advisor workflows.
Founded in 1985, Mercer Advisors provides fee-based family office services spanning financial planning, investment management, tax planning, estate planning, insurance and trust administration. The firm employs more than 1,620 people across over 120 locations and manages approximately $110bn in client assets.
Aspen integrates with technology providers including Orion, Box, eMoney, Estately by FreeWill, Pontera, Salentica, Salesforce, Zoom and Microsoft, alongside multi-custody connections with Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, Raymond James Financial, Goldman Sachs and other custodians. Development of the platform was led by Mercer Advisors chief technology officer Christine Cataldo in collaboration with technology partners including Avantos, the AI-native operating system backed by Vanguard, Guardian Life, SEI and Mercer Advisors.
Mercer Advisors president Daniel Gourvitch said, “Our ultimate aspiration is to deliver the highest standard of financial care to families and create the context where leading fiduciary professionals can do the best work of their careers. For families, Aspen allows us to deliver the full capabilities of a $110B+ family office through each of 450 advisors. For our teams, it is the engine that simplifies the coordination and execution of work, so they can spend more time with clients while also doing more for them.”
Orion Advisor Technology president Reed Colley said, “Orion is excited and proud to collaborate with Mercer Advisors as an Aspen integration partner. As an AI-native company, we are building solutions that make advisors more human, not less. Aspen delivers a true, AI-enabled family office experience by connecting teams, data, and client goals into one coordinated platform that helps set a new standard for how advice is delivered at scale.”
Box co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie said, “AI is fundamentally changing the way work gets done, and agents will define this next era by understanding context and actively participating in complex workflows.”
“Aspen is helping to set the pace for what agentic AI looks like in the real world, bringing intelligence directly into the day-to-day work of advisors in a secure, compliant way. We’re excited to collaborate with Mercer Advisors to demonstrate how organizations can use AI to scale expertise, surface insights faster, and help deliver better outcomes without losing the human element that matters most,” he said.
