KYND, a cyber risk analytics platform for the insurance sector, has joined Anthropic’s Cyber Verification Programme, gaining access to Claude’s frontier AI models for defensive cybersecurity research.
The programme will enable KYND to assess whether vulnerabilities identified across organisations can be exploited in practice, rather than relying solely on theoretical exposure. The InsurTech expects the additional verification to give insurers, brokers and reinsurers greater insight when assessing risk, setting prices and making portfolio decisions.
The partnership comes as AI increasingly changes both sides of the cybersecurity landscape. While advanced AI can strengthen defensive capabilities, it can also be used to identify and exploit vulnerabilities at greater speed. For organisations responsible for assessing cyber risk, determining whether a weakness represents a genuine threat is therefore becoming increasingly important.
Anthropic’s Cyber Verification Programme is designed to provide approved organisations with access to its AI models for legitimate defensive research. Access is granted following an application and review process and is limited to the organisation that has been approved. Anthropic’s restrictions on prohibited uses continue to apply.
For KYND, the programme builds on its existing approach to identifying cyber exposures. Its platform detects issues including open ports, unpatched systems and misconfigurations, providing visibility into potential weaknesses across an organisation’s technology environment.
Access to Anthropic’s models will allow KYND to take the next step by testing whether identified vulnerabilities can actually be exploited. The company said this could help distinguish genuine risks from theoretical weaknesses and provide insurers with more evidence when evaluating the potential impact of cyber threats.
The approach could also support portfolio-level assessment, enabling vulnerabilities to be tested at scale and helping insurance providers focus on exposures that are more likely to translate into losses.
KYND product leader Cosmin Elefterescu said, “Anyone who has done serious defensive research knows the frustration of an AI model declining a legitimate request because it cannot tell a defender’s intent from a bad actor’s. Through verification, we remove that obstacle. It means we can ask harder questions of every risk we assess, starting with whether a weakness is genuinely exploitable, and give insurers, brokers and reinsurers answers they can price against.”
Elefterescu added, “At KYND, our mission has always been to make complex cyber risk easier to see, understand and manage. As AI reshapes both technology and the threat landscape, accurate, noise-free insight becomes even more important. Being part of this programme helps us deliver exactly that, enabling our partners and their clients to stay ahead of evolving cyber risk with greater visibility and confidence.”
