Aviva brings Financial Institutions underwriting to UK regions

Aviva, the UK insurer and part of its Global, Corporate & Specialty division, is expanding its Financial Institutions underwriting capability by placing dedicated specialists across its regional network from August 2026.

The move will give brokers in the Midlands & South, North of England and Scotland access to dedicated Financial Institutions underwriting expertise outside London for the first time.

Four Financial Institutions underwriters will be positioned across Aviva’s regional network, bringing specialist knowledge and underwriting decision-making closer to brokers and their clients. The insurer said the change is intended to provide more direct access to technical expertise and support faster decisions.

Aviva has also launched a suite of five insurance products for Financial Institutions customers. The offering covers Directors’ & Officers, Fund Directors’ & Officers Liability, Investment Management Insurance, Professional Indemnity and Crime.

The products are aimed at FCA-regulated organisations, including investment managers, investment funds, building societies, mutuals and friendly societies, as well as other regulated financial services businesses.

The expansion forms part of Aviva’s wider strategy to grow its Financial Institutions proposition across the UK. The insurer is drawing on its regional Financial Lines underwriting teams and broker network to extend specialist support beyond its London operation.

Alison Caine, head of Financial Lines & Cyber, UK Regions at Aviva, said, “As demand for specialist expertise grows, we’re expanding our Financial Institutions underwriting capability, bringing dedicated support and decision-making closer to brokers and clients.”

Caine added, “Backed by one of the largest regional Financial Lines underwriting teams in the market, as well as our established distribution network and broker relationships, we’re able to provide faster decisions, stronger technical support and tailored solutions for FCA-regulated businesses.”

She continued, “It’s the latest step in our investment in regional specialist underwriting and our ambition to grow our Financial Institutions proposition across the UK.”

The expansion gives Aviva’s regional broker network greater access to specialist Financial Institutions underwriting, while broadening the insurer’s offering for regulated financial services businesses across the UK.
