Comply Exchange’s August report tracks global tax shake-up

Comply Exchange’s latest compliance roundup for July 2026 shows tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions tightening FATCA, CRS and CARF reporting infrastructure.

According to Comply Exchange, the IRS confirmed on 2 July that its new Foreign Filer Transmitter Control Code Registration System is now live. The system lets foreign filers without a US SSN or ITIN obtain a TCC Global Intermediary Identification Number ahead of the Filing Information Returns Electronically system’s planned retirement, with the Information Returns Intake System taking over from 2027.

The IRS also published updated instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC, alongside Publication 1179 covering substitute forms for 1096, 1098, 1099 and 5498 returns, Comply Exchange noted.

In Antigua and Barbuda, the Inland Revenue Department issued Circular No. 10 of 2026 on 17 July, guiding reporting financial institutions on remediating preexisting accounts under CRS.

Australia’s Taxation Office confirmed it will accept the updated FATCA XML Schema v2.0.1, which aligns reporting with revised ISO country name and currency code standards, while continuing to support the previous v2.0 files.

Canada’s Revenue Agency released updated CRS guidance on 2 July reflecting the OECD’s CRS 2.0 amendments.

Germany’s Federal Central Tax Office issued FATCA Newsletter 05/2026 on 3 July, addressing tax identification number reporting, the release date for new XML functionality, technical caching issues, duplicate TIN errors and problems submitting Nil returns via online forms.

Singapore’s Inland Revenue Authority published a fourth edition of its CRS XML Schema User Guide on 8 July, followed by two infographics on 31 July explaining CRS amendments for both existing and newly in-scope reporting institutions.

Switzerland’s State Secretariat for International Finance confirmed on 29 June that its reciprocal Model 1 FATCA agreement with the United States, signed in 2024, will not enter into force before 1 January 2029, extending an already lengthy implementation process.
