Bloomberg extends ASKB AI assistant to mobile devices

Bloomberg, the provider of the Bloomberg Terminal® service and the Bloomberg Professional mobile app, has unveiled a series of updates to ASKB, its conversational AI interface, designed to bring the tool’s desktop and mobile experiences into closer alignment.

The update allows financial professionals to begin an ASKB conversation on the desktop and then continue that same thread on a mobile phone or tablet running iOS or Android, without needing to restate their query. Bloomberg said the aim is to keep investors connected to ASKB when they step away from their desks, whether they are in a meeting, at a conference, or travelling.

Among the changes, users can now personalise their ASKB profile by describing their job, role, area of focus or preferences, helping the tool tailor its responses to the individual. This personalisation carries across devices, meaning ASKB behaves consistently whether accessed through the Terminal or via phone or tablet.

ASKB has also been given a dedicated tab within the taskbar of the Bloomberg Professional mobile app, making it more readily accessible. In addition, professionals can configure a Morning Report on either desktop or mobile and retrieve it on a schedule of their choosing, so they receive a complete recap rather than an unfinished stream of information.

Bloomberg has also refreshed the visual design of ASKB for iOS users, introducing Apple’s Liquid Glass interface, which the company describes as a more fluid, dynamic layout suited to smaller screens. A comparable design update is expected to reach Android devices in the coming weeks.

ASKB runs on coordinated AI agents drawing on data, news, research and analytics that a user is entitled to access. Bloomberg noted that the same trust measures apply regardless of device, including clear sourcing of information, visibility into the Bloomberg Query Language (BQL) code used for structured data analysis, and built-in validation checks carried out before an answer is presented to a user.

Beyond the features launched today, Bloomberg said further mobile capabilities are planned, including functionality that would let users ask ASKB to surface their own worksheets and highlight news most pertinent to them.

ASKB is now live within the Bloomberg Professional mobile app on iOS and Android phones and tablets for eligible Bloomberg Anywhere subscribers, with the personalisation and cross-device features available immediately. The Liquid Glass design is already active on iOS and iPadOS.

Fahd Arshad, Head of Product for ASKB at Bloomberg, said: “Continuity like this isn’t just a design choice, it’s an architecture decision. ASKB maintains a persistent session for each user, and that session, not just the interface, is what persists across devices in real time. When someone switches from the Terminal service on desktop to mobile or vice versa, they’re not launching a new conversation, they’re continuing the ongoing thread, with the same context intact. The value isn’t just that ASKB is on your mobile device. It’s that your train of thought never has to end when you close your laptop.”
