Alliant to acquire Nava in AI benefits push

Alliant Insurance Services, one of the largest insurance brokers and consultants in the US offering risk management, insurance, employee benefits and underwriting services, has agreed to acquire Nava Benefits, an AI-native employee benefits platform, in a move the pair say will reshape how benefits brokerage is delivered.

The tie-up brings together Alliant’s advisory capabilities, analytics and scale with Nava’s technology platform, HQ, with the aim of building a more connected model in which real-time data, software and human advisors work in tandem to improve outcomes for employers and their staff.

Nava’s HQ platform links the four groups typically involved in benefits administration, namely the producer, the service team, the HR function and the employee, onto a single system, replacing a patchwork of email and spreadsheet-based coordination.

According to the release, renewal quoting and scenario modelling that previously took a week can now be completed live within minutes. Nava said its AI tools resolve 81% of member support queries without human intervention, earning a satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5, while advocates are freed up to focus on more complex matters such as care access and medical bill review.

Alliant Employee Benefits President Kevin Overbey said, “AI is not an incremental change for our industry. It creates the opportunity to rethink how benefits are delivered from the ground up. This acquisition is about leading that transformation and building a model that is more connected, more responsive, and more capable of delivering measurable value for employers and the people they cover.”

Nava Benefits CEO and Co-Founder Brandon Weber said, “We started Nava to make healthcare work better for the average American, and we’ve spent six years building a team obsessed with using technology to do it.

“This partnership pulls that future forward by a decade, helping millions of Americans get better care at lower cost. Alliant was the right partner because they share our entrepreneurial DNA and our conviction that this is the moment to build. I’m excited to build the insurance brokerage of the future together.”
