Vertafore brings AI agents to independent insurance agencies

Vertafore, a provider of insurance distribution technology, has launched its Agentic Agency strategy alongside four new Velocity AI agents built to cut friction across the everyday workflows of independent agencies.

The four agents sit on the Velocity AI Platform and cover policy servicing, document research and routine agency operations. Early adopters are already using them, and all four are due for general release this year.

The Velocity Document Intelligence Agent is embedded in Vertafore’s ImageRight document and workflow management system, used by agencies, MGAs and carriers. It pulls relevant details from documents and other content into a single clear response, so users no longer need to review files individually. Early testing suggests it can cut document review time by as much as 90%, and it is set to become generally available in September 2026.

The Velocity Coach Agent works inside Vertafore’s AMS360 and Sagitta agency management systems. It draws on product and agency documentation, along with standard operating procedures, to answer how-to and product queries in real time, reducing the time users spend searching for answers by up to 88%.

The Velocity Policy Intake Agent handles commercial policy processing. It reads and extracts details from source documents, maps them into the agency management system (AMS), updates the records, files supporting paperwork and logs an audit-ready activity trail. Vertafore says this can make intake up to 87% quicker.

The Velocity Policy Check Agent compares policy documents with AMS records and supporting material to spot inconsistencies and suggest fixes. Users approve any corrections before the agent carries them out. Both the Coach and Policy Check agents, along with Policy Intake, are expected to reach general availability in early autumn.

The Agentic Agency is Vertafore’s plan to help independent agencies reach what it calls Distribution Velocity. It targets the drag that absorbs agency capacity, such as transferring data between systems, hunting through documents, re-entering information and repetitive servicing and accounting jobs. The approach embeds AI into tools agencies already rely on, with human staff brought in where their judgement and relationships add the most value.

The strategy spans the whole agency lifecycle. Digital Producer agents support prospecting, placement, renewals and follow-ups. Smart Submissions agents build carrier-ready submissions, compare quotes, prepare proposals and check issued policies. Agentic Servicer agents manage requests, certificates, endorsements, cancellations and renewal preparation. Accounting Automation agents handle direct bill, agency bill, bank reconciliation and contingency management. Supporting these, AI Enablers boost usability and data quality in core systems, while Business Intelligence agents draw growth insights from book, pipeline and performance data.

The company also gave an early look at future Smart Submissions features. The Velocity Data Collection Agent will organise information from incoming documents and flag missing submission data. The Velocity Carrier Routing Agent will offer AI-based recommendations on suitable markets, drawing on carrier appetite, agency behaviour and agency strategy. Both are due to join early adopter programmes this winter.

Vertafore chief AI officer James Thom said, “Distribution Velocity is about removing friction and accomplishing intentional outcomes across the agency—not just making individual tasks faster.

“The Agentic Agency is our vision for what that looks like in the AI era. Technology takes on work across connected workflows and delivers intelligent insights, so agency professionals have more capacity to create value for their clients and grow their business.”

Vertafore CEO Amy Zupon said, “Independent agencies have always created value through their expertise, judgment and trusted relationships.

“Those strengths have become even more important in the AI era. The Agentic Agency is about using AI to take on more of the manual and repetitive work, surface the information and decisions that need attention, and give agency professionals more time to apply their expertise where it matters most.”
