Payments firm Altery has cut due diligence investigations from hours to minutes, reduced false positives and absorbed rising onboarding volumes without adding compliance staff, according to a new video case study released by Vivox AI.
The case study, produced by Vivox AI, features Altery group fraud and financial crime officer Bisi Giwa alongside Vivox AI founder and CEO Tim Khamzin. It examines how explainable AI is being applied to everyday compliance work, while analysts keep responsibility for reviewing outputs and making final decisions.
Before adopting the technology, Altery’s team was carrying a heavy manual workload. Investigating complex corporate structures meant consulting multiple sources, and Giwa says some cases took between four and six hours. Onboarding requests kept climbing while the team’s size stayed the same, creating a capacity problem familiar to many compliance functions across the payments sector.
Altery group fraud and financial crime officer Bisi Giwa said, “We’ve transitioned from hours to minutes and we spend far less time now digging for answers.”
According to Giwa, Vivox AI’s platform converts complex ownership structures into clear, readable maps, giving analysts full visibility of the end-to-end ownership framework. She also points to fewer false positives and more targeted escalations, which allow the team to focus on the risks that genuinely matter to Altery.
For a regulated business, speed alone was never the goal. Giwa explains that transparency and human judgement were central priorities for the team, together with strong governance and a reliable audit trail.
Altery group fraud and financial crime officer Bisi Giwa said, “What we’ve been able to do is add the layer of human judgement on top of the output. It’s explainable and it’s traceable.”
The Vivox AI case study also highlights the hands-on role compliance analysts can play in shaping the systems they rely on. In the video, Khamzin explains that Vivox AI was integrated into Altery’s existing workflow via an API, with access to corporate registry documents from 155 countries. Altery’s analysts provided feedback and insights, and took part in training the AI agents directly.
This collaboration suggests that deploying AI in compliance can go further than simple task automation. Practitioners feed their experience of real investigations into the development of their tools, while continuing to scrutinise what those tools produce.
Giwa was clear about where the balance lies. Giwa added, “AI is a support. It doesn’t replace human judgement.”
