ACA Group expands international presence by acquiring Effecta Compliance Group

ACA Group, a leader in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions within the financial services sector, has recently taken a significant step to enhance its international reach by acquiring Effecta Compliance Group.

The acquisition aims to solidify ACA’s presence in the Middle East while expanding its comprehensive service offerings to UK firms amidst increasingly complex compliance challenges. This strategic move is set against a backdrop of a surge in international firms establishing a foothold in the UAE, as evidenced by a record number of applications to the Dubai Financial Services Authority in the previous year.

ACA Group, with a global team of over 1,250 experts including former regulators, has been pivotal in advising clients on GRC matters for over two decades. Their innovative ComplianceAlpha® technology platform is complemented by a range of advisory and managed services.

Similarly, Effecta has carved a niche in the UK and UAE markets with its deep regulatory expertise and tailored compliance solutions for a diverse clientele including investment banks, asset managers, and broker-dealers.

This acquisition not only introduces Effecta’s clients to ACA’s extensive advisory and technology services but also marks the establishment of ACA offices in strategic locations such as the Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market. These expansions reflect the growing importance of the UAE as a global financial hub, further driven by its favorable legal, tax, and regulatory frameworks.

ACA’s new venture under the ACA Effecta brand will be spearheaded by Clare Curtis, founder of Effecta, who brings over two decades of experience in regulatory compliance. Positioned as the Head of ACA Effecta and Middle East Regulatory Advisory, Curtis will guide the integration and expansion of ACA’s services in the region.

Curtis said, “We are excited to join forces with ACA, a globally known brand, and this partnership brings the financial and operational support needed to further build our expertise and continue providing scalable compliance solutions.”

Patrick Olson, CEO of ACA, said, “The acquisition of Effecta significantly enhances our ability to support clients as they look to launch, grow, and protect their presence in the rapidly developing financial centers of the UAE.

“This strategic move not only strengthens our global footprint and leadership position but also ensures that our clients have access to the comprehensive GRC services they need to succeed in their international ventures.”
